Cheetah and Cub
On a recent trip to Kenya and the Masai Mara, we were lucky to find this cheetah with her four cubs. Cheetah love to lie on an old ant hill or any high mound they can find, so they can see the surrounding area for protection. This one cub was very affectionate and I was fortunate to capture this loving interaction.
Blue Door
In Namibia near the coast, is a set of deserted buildings now known as a ghost town called Kolmanskop. It was a diamond mine, with buildings for the workers. The size or the area hit it’s peak in the early 1920s and then in 1956 became abandoned. Now the old buildings (which are well preserved due to the dry climate), which still have paint and wallpaper, are being reclaimed by the sand dunes. Many of the interior photos have a haunting feeling.
Snow Monkey
The snow monkeys are only found in Japan. In the winter they love to swim and be near the warm water of the natural hot pools. This monkey was out of the pool shifting through the snow looking for some seeds to eat as I walked passed him.
Valley of Fire
This image is from the Valley of Fire, Nevada. I love the vibrancy and richness of the earth here and the way the water reflects the colors.
Antelope Canyon
Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona, is one of my favorite places to shoot. The canyon which is cut by flash flooding make the walls look smooth. In parts of the canyon you can touch both sides of the canyon walls as they are only 2-3 feet wide in some areas.
Bald Eagle
The bald eagle was shot from a pier in Gustavus, Alaska. He and his mate had just finished feasting on a large salmon at low tide, when he started to fly. I was following him and panned with a fast shutter speed to catch him in flight.
Lioness
This lioness was part of a large, well fed pride in the Okavango Delta, Moremi camp. Our guide knew where they were going to relax, so we followed them to a large sand hill. The lioness decided to lie down not far from our jeep and just looked up at us while we were taking her portrait.
